The spirit of the Waldorf school

At the end of the First World War, all the structures, values, and self-confidence that created what seemed the greatness of the nineteenth century disappeared. In its place stood only ruins, the shards of civilization. Responding to this, Emil Molt, director of the Waldorf-Astoria Cigarette Company and student of Rudolf Steiner, decided to found a school to educate humain beings capable of creating a new culture. Rudolf Steiner agreed to act as consultant. Thus the Waldorf School movement, with now over 500 schools worldwide, was born. "The goal of this education" - in the cords of the translators - "was that, through living inner work guided bu the insights or Rudolf Steiner, the teachers would develop in the children such power of thought, depth of feeling, and strength of will that they would emerge from their school years as full members of the human community, able to meet and transform the world". Content include the Pedagogical objective of the Waldorf School in Stuttgart, as well as lectures surrounding the opening of the first school: the Intent of the Waldorf School; the Spirit of the Waldorf School; A Lecture for Prospective Parents of the Waldorf School.

An inspiring introduction to the Waldorf Spirit and method.
